“Remember, life is kind of like a party. You invite a lot of people, some leave early, some stay all night, some laugh with you, some laugh at you, and some show up really late. But in the end, after the fun, there are a few who stay to help you clean up the mess. And most of the time, they aren’t even the ones who made the mess. These people are your real friends in life. They are the...

In my decolonizaling education class we were assigned to write a children’s book that does just that; decolonizes education. And what better way to do that than to write a book about a crime fighting hijabi muslimah! With help from my soul sister Vanessa, we are hoping to drop this book soon!

ASK me anything! →
proud.
These days all I have to do is log into faceboook, tumblr or twitter to be inspired. And these inspirations are coming to me from my peers. The amount of knowledge pouring out of these amazing human beings is humbling to say the least. With so many of my friends starting to wear the hijab, tweeting revolutionary type things, or just inviting me to random speak-outs or even starting organizations...

This probably all seems irrelevent, but I have been...
East Coast headaches and heartaches
My time in D.C/Virginia has been one filled with reflection and sadness for my old community. After talking to my old friends and my co-workers, I have found out that my Muslim community is nothing like it used to be. The youth here are so scared to be Muslims; and their parents are happy because that means one less thing they have to worry about. Islam to them has become something forced on them...

The Californication of Ramadan Blog?
If you are familiar with the Ramadan blog called ‘30 mosques in 30 day’, I was thinking about possibly doing something similar this Ramadan but instead of me traveling all over the country (which I would LOVE to do) I want to have people all around California do an blog entry about their mosques during Ramadan! Anyone down to help me?
We don’t need to wear our ‘marriage price-tag’ through our appearance to know our worth . Worth is given by Him, not your gaze. Gem of the day :)
